The active ingredients in our delicious beverages work together to help prevent a hangover. We have had fun creating delicious guilt-free cocktails without suffering through a fuzzy head the next morning.
A Hangover is caused by Acetaldehyde buildup and Dehydration:
#1. Acetaldehyde: A hangover is simply your body trying to detoxify after it has been subjected to more alcohol than it can handle. There are two stages to this detoxification process. In the first stage the alcohol is converted into a metabolite called acetaldehyde which is the chemical that causes us to feel hung over. In the second stage the acetaldehyde is converted into a water soluble molecule called acetic acid so that it can be excreted from the body. Unfortunately, the second stage takes longer than the first, causing a buildup of acetaldehyde in our bodies. This is why we feel so horrible in the morning after enjoying ourselves a bit (or a lot) too recklessly the night before.
#2. Dehydration: As alcohol dehydrates our bodies, it is vitally important that we re-hydrate with water. Our suggestions are to drink 1 cup of water for every alcohol drink consumed.
Drank a little too much last night? Or do you want to enjoy your
favourite alcohol tonight without waking up with a fuzzy head?
Our delicious Turmeric Ginger Tonic Concentrates blend beautifully
with your favourite alcohol while the synergy of the active ingredients works to limit the negative effects of alcohol by speeding up the second stage of detoxification. Drinking our tonics the next morning is helpful, but when used as a mix or consumed on the night of drinking most hangovers can be avoided in the first place.
The best meal to have the next morning should contain anti-oxidants, protein, healthy fats, & be easy to digest - such as the following smoothie
4 oz Cherry or Blueberry Elixir,
1-2 scoops protein powder,
1 cup kefir &/or 1 cup yogurt,
1 banana & 1 cut up apple
1/2 avocado (fresh or frozen),
1 1/2 cups frozen mixed berries,
1 handful of kale or spinach,
&/or 1-2 scoops green powder,
1 tbsp each olive oil & avocado oil,
1 cup of coconut water,
½ - 1 cup of favourite organic juice,
1 tbsp ea: chia seeds, flax seed, hemp hearts
Blend until smooth.
Yields 4-6 servings.
Above ingredients are suggestion only.
